Manchester United confident of agreeing deal for 32-goal star

Manchester United are reportedly confident of landing the signature of Bruno Fernandes from Sporting despite the recent interest from arch-rivals Liverpool.

The Red Devils have been tracking the midfielder since the start of the year but they have yet to make an official approach to secure the services of the Portugal international.

According to The Star, the Mancunian giants are aware of the interest from Jurgen Klopp’s side, who have made a formal £40m offer to land the 24-year-old’s signature.

The same publication claims that the club’s hierarchy are very optimistic over their prospects of signing the Portuguese and are confident that a deal will eventually be completed.

Fernandes has recently enjoyed a storming season with a staggering tally of 32 goals and 18 assists for Sporting while regularly featuring in the centre of the park.

He may not be able to replicate the same level of performances with the big step to the Premier League but he would nonetheless provide a goalscoring threat from the midfield.

Paul Pogba was the team’s most successful contributor last term with 16 goals and 11 assists but the Frenchman’s future with the club remains uncertain after publicly acknowledging the urge for a fresh challenge.

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane is said to be keen on landing the 2018 World Cup winner but so far, there has been no movement from Los Blancos’ end to pursue his signature.

  1. If United miss this they will pay to regret.
They will pay in the sense they will be nowhere in the coming season and will not even make it to Europe.
Think of the fire power with a new strong midfielder to replace Pogba, Gareth Bale a couple of reliable defenders and the “Ronaldo of tomorrow” Bruno Fernandes, we’ll rule the roost.
