Arsenal set to announce their first summer signing on a five-year deal

Arsenal are reportedly on the cusp of announcing their first summer transfer after agreeing on a transfer package with Ituano for Gabriel Martinelli.

The teenager has been tracked by the club’s scouts for the past year and they have now reached an agreement over a £6m to land his signature this summer.

According to Globo Esporte via The Star, the teenager is set to join the club in the forthcoming days considering he has now surpassed his 18th birthday.

The same outlet claims that he has agreed a five-year deal with the Gunners and should easily get the work permit, given he also holds an Italian passport.

Martinelli, who notched 10 goals and six assists for Ituano last term, could directly be drafted into the first-team next season, should he impress during the club’s pre-season tour.

Gunners boss Unai Emery is said to be keen on adding more depth in the wider attacking department and Martinelli could be one of two signings made with Lorient’s Alexis Claude-Maurice also close to joining the side.
