Manchester United and Arsenal receive huge boost in signing Bundesliga star after club president drops suggestion

Manchester United and Arsenal have received a boost in signing Jerome Boateng from Bayern Munich this summer after president Uli Hoeness acknowledged that the centre-back should part ways with the club.

According to The Express, both United and Arsenal could go on a potential bidding battle for the services of Boateng, whose days with Bayern appear to be numbered.

United had sought to pursue the central defender during the 2018 summer transfer window but back then, Boateng personally confirmed that he snubbed the interest from Jose Mourinho.

On the contrary, Arsenal have not had any long-term links with the German, but they appear to be keeping a close eye on the player’s proceedings as they seek to bolster the central defence which remains a weak point.

Both sides are likely to strengthen the heart of the backline this summer but it remains to be seen whether they will take the gamble with Boateng, who has experienced regular fitness concerns during his time in Munich.

Boateng, who has two years remaining on his contract, has not made any public admission regarding a summer departure, but he seems likely to be shown the exit door with Lucas Hernandez joining the team this summer.
