Arsenal ready to beat Manchester United in the race to sign 24-year-old French champion

Arsenal are reportedly aiming to hijack Manchester United’s efforts to sign Adrien Rabiot on a Bosman at the end of the campaign.

The Frenchman did not participate for Paris Saint-Germain during the backend of the season after he was demoted from the first-team due to his reluctance to pen a new deal.

He is now expected to leave Les Parisiens on a free when his contract expires in June and the Premier League seems a potential destination ahead of next season.

According to The Star, United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is said to hold a keen interest in the Paris Saint-Germain graduate as the club seek a replacement for the departing Ander Herrera in their ranks.

However, they could face stiff competition in the form of the Gunners with manager Unai Emery keen on a reunion with Rabiot after their time together at Parc des Princes.

Both teams are currently assured of Europa League football for next season but the Gunners still have an opportunity of offering the 24-year-old with Champions League football.

The north London side are scheduled to face Chelsea in the Europa League final next week and a victory in the game would offer them a direct entry into next season’s Champions League in addition to trophy success.

Rabiot, who has made 227 appearances for Les Parisiens, has been crowned as the French Ligue 1 champion on five separate occasions. He has six caps with the national team to date.
