Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata has reported for his medical with Atletico Madrid ahead of his proposed return to the club before the transfer deadline.
Morata had clarified his intention to leave the Blues as early as December and it appears that he has been allowed to return to the Spanish La Liga after the recent arrival of Gonzalo Higuain.
In a tweet covered by El Chiringuito, Morata confirmed that he has indeed arrived in Madrid for the medical and he is keen on joining his new Atleti teammates thereafter.
Morata had struggled during his 18-month spell with the Blues and there were a number of occasions whereby he was criticised by the fans after missing clear-cut chances on goal.
With Higuain’s arrival, it was quite clear that Morata would be parting ways from the club and reports indicate that Atleti are expected to sign him on a temporary deal to start with.
Thereafter, they are said to have agreed on a £48.5m fee for a permanent deal which they are expected to push through when the ongoing campaign comes to a conclusion.
