Manchester United have received a huge boost in the pursuit of midfielder Bruno Fernandes with Sporting prepared to accept a reduced package for his sale.
The midfielder has been earmarked as one of the prime targets for United this summer and reports have recently suggested that the club have agreed provisional personal terms with the Portuguese.
According to Portuguese outlet Jornal de Notícias, Sporting president Frederico Varandas has decided to negotiate a lesser sum for the midfielder amid the interest from United.
Fernandes is currently said to have a £90m release clause on his contract but it is claimed that Varandas is prepared to agree on a package of around £54m to sanction the player’s departure from Sporting.
Fernandes had a stellar season in the Primeira Liga last term and he contributed 20 goals and 13 assists for Sporting, who finished third on the league standings.
Should he make the move to Old Trafford, he should provide the added creativity from the centre of the park, though it remains unclear whether he would have Paul Pogba alongside him.
Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola has publicly stated the midfielder’s desire to move on and the next few weeks could give a clear idea of the player’s position with the Mancunian giants.
