Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirms double injury blow for Manchester United ahead of Leipzig trip

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed a double injury blow for the Red Devils ahead of their final Champions League group stage clash at RB Leipzig.

The Red Devils recently suffered a disappointing 3-1 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in Europe and that meant that Les Parisiens jumped above them on the table on the head-to-head record.

They are presently second in Group H with the head-to-head advantage over RB Leipzig, but must need to avoid a defeat at the Red Bull Arena or else, they will be playing Europa League football in February.

Ahead of the game, Solskjaer has confirmed a double injury blow with both Edinson Cavani and Anthony Martial unavailable for the trip after picking up minor niggles against West Ham United.

“Edinson and Anthony, they’ve only minor niggles but they won’t be making the trip,” He was quoted as saying by BT Sport.

The absence of the front duo is definitely a huge loss for the Red Devils and Cavani’s physical presence could have provided an X-factor for the club against the Bundesliga outfit.

Amidst the disappointment, United have received some boost on the defensive front with goalkeeper David de Gea back in contention after missing the West Ham game with a knee concern.

Luke Shaw is also available after missing more than six weeks of action with a hamstring injury. He may have to settle for a role off the bench after being out for an extended period.
