Some Man United supporters have praised the man of the match display from Mason Greenwood against AZ Alkmaar on Thursday night.
The Red Devils needed a win to cement the top spot in their Europa League group but they were unimpressive in the opening half where AZ had a couple of genuine chances to find the breakthrough.
Following the break, United stepped up with their performance with Ashley Young netting the opening goal in the 53rd minute and thereafter, it was the Greenwood show.
The United graduate scored with a strong excellent strike from just outside the box to double the scores in the 58th minute and moments later, he won the penalty which was slotted in by Juan Mata.
Within a couple of minutes of Mata’s strike, Greenwood bagged his brace with another low left-footed strike – beating the AZ Alkmaar goalkeeper at the near post.
Greenwood could not end United’s wait for a first hat-trick since 2013 but he nonetheless entered the record books as he became the youngster Red Devils player to score a brace in European football.
