Chelsea FC midfielder Jorginho has sent a warning to the Chelsea squad following the 4-4 draw against Ajax in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
The Italy international was adjudged as the man of the match for the game after he scored a brace from the penalty spot while impressing with his distribution throughout the 90 minutes.
Still, the midfielder was disappointed with the eventual result on the night even though the Blues came from 4-1 down to share the spoils at Stamford Bridge.
Speaking after the game, Jorginho said that the Blues should have won the match and needed to show better composure in the final third when Ajax were playing with nine men.
He added that the team need to curb on the mistakes on the field of play while stressing that the continuation of such errors could cost the Blues in the quest to make the knockout stage of the competition.
“We didn’t win and we should have done. In this situation when you are with two more players, I think we could win and we should. “[We have learnt] that we cannot make mistakes, [at] this level of football you can’t. Every single mistake we can lose the game,” he said.
Chelsea are currently tied on seven points with Ajax and Valencia but the teams are split on the head-to-head record. Ajax find themselves in the top spot with the Blues behind them while Valencia are third on the table.
After the international break, Lampard’s side make the trip to Valencia for the next Champions League meeting and they need a positive result to keep their qualification hopes alive. Elsewhere, a defeat at the Mestalla would definitely end their prospects of making the last 16 stage of the Champions League.
