Manchester United are understood to have agreed personal terms with midfielder Bruno Fernandes and they are now expected to discuss a transfer fee with Sporting.
The 24-year-old had a stupendous season for Sporting last term where he contributed 32 goals and 18 assists, and that has certainly caught the attention of the Red Devils.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport’s Nicolo Schira, the Red Devils are said to have sorted personal terms for the midfielder after meeting up with his agent this week and they now have to finalise the deal with Sporting.
United are reported to have already failed with an opening bid of around £31m for the Portugal international, considering the offer remains far off from Sporting’s £70m demands.
Still, there remains the optimism that they can find the breakthrough with the Primeira Liga giants and widespread sources have indicated that the Lisbon-based side could be persuaded to accept something around £54m.
United are on the hunt for a holding midfielder as well during the ongoing transfer window and they have been fancied to make a swoop for Newcastle United’s Sean Longstaff.
