Picture: Chelsea FC mistakenly confirm they have completed £40m first summer signing

Chelsea have mistakenly confirmed that they have sealed the permanent signature of Mateo Kovacic before taking down the announcement from their official app.

The Blues have been tipped to seal the permanent recruitment of Kovacic in the past few days and a deal has now been completed with a £40m deal agreed with Real Madrid.

No official announcement has been made on their website regarding the same, but they had mistakenly published the confirmation on the The 5th Stand app before scrapping the news story.

The Blues are banned from registering players for the next 12 months but they have been able to land Kovacic, given he was already registered with them on a season-long loan last term.

Still, they had to finalise the formalities before their transfer ban becomes active on July 1 and they have successfully done so, though an official announcement has been held back for the moment.
