‘Embarrassing’,’we are finished as a club’ – These Manchester United fans are angry with club’s decision to hand bumper contract to 45-goal star

A section of the Manchester United supporters have expressed their anger and astonishment with the club close to rewarding Marcus Rashford with a new bumper contract.

The 21-year-old has just 12 months remaining on his current £75,000-a-week deal with United, although the club have the option to extend his stay for another 12 months.

Amidst this, the club have been busy negotiating fresh terms with the England international and a report from The Telegraph has claimed that the club are close to rewarding the forward with bumper £250,000-a-week wages on a four-year contract.

In response, a selection of United supporters have criticised the club’s decision over the striker’s contract and don’t believe the youngster has done sufficiently to command such a significant amount at Old Trafford.

Rashford has notched 45 goals for the Red Devils in all competitions since making his debut under former boss Louis van Gaal more than three years ago.

He has reached double figures in terms of scoring in each of the past three full seasons with the club, but there has nonetheless been frustration with him entering periods where he can’t find the scoresheet.

Should United seal the deal, Rashford will become one of the highest earners at the club and that should only increase the expectations from the Red Devil faithful.
