Manchester United ready to offer 26-year-old with bumper £250,000-a-week contract

Manchester United are reportedly prepared to treble the wages of defender Harry Maguire, should he make the move to Old Trafford from Leicester City this summer.

The Red Devils have already failed with a £70m bid for the England international but reports suggest that they are likely to come up with a renewed approach.

According to The Star, the Foxes have set an asking price of around £85m for the central defender, who has been earmarked as the prime central defensive target for United.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have yet to show the intention of matching the price, but it is claimed that they would have no problems with agreeing personal terms for the defender.

Maguire has been tipped to earn a bumper contract worth £250,000-a-week, while it is suggested that assistant Mike Phelan may play a big part in the potential move after previously coaching him at Hull City.

United have been in a straight tussle with Manchester City for Maguire in recent weeks, but they are now regarded as the clear front runners for the defender with the Citizens bowing out of the race.
