Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has reportedly urged the club to speed up negotiations with respect to the potential signing of Bruno Fernandes from Sporting.
According to Portuguese outlet Record, the player’s representative has been in contact with both United and Tottenham Hotspur but neither of the clubs have expressed an interest in meeting Sporting’s £62m price tag.
Still, it is suggested that Solskjaer wants the club to reach a quick agreement with respect to the Portuguese, given he wants the midfielder in the squad when the pre-season training begins next month.
At present, United are reluctant to pay anything more than £40m for the Portugal international and reports indicate that the player’s agent will hold fresh negotiations with the Red Devils next week.
When compared to Spurs, United don’t have the assurance of Champions League football for next season, but Fernandes is said to be drawn to the club due to the history and mystique.
The 24-year-old experienced a stellar season with Sporting last term and he managed a staggering tally of 32 goals and 18 assists while regularly operating in the centre of the park.
