Manchester United confident of completing deal for £90m-rated star

Manchester United are reportedly confident of landing the signature of Harry Maguire from Leicester City despite the competition from arch-rivals Manchester City.

The centre-back has been strongly linked with the Red Devils last summer but a move did not materialise after they baulked at the Foxes’ £75m price tag shortly after the defender’s stellar showing at the World Cup.

According to Evening Standard, United remain confident of peeping the Citizens to the services of the former Hull City man and they have begun negotiations with an initial £40m offer.

The proposal is supposedly way off the Foxes’ £90m valuation for the defender but United are expected to continue discussions to reduce on the eventual transfer value.

United have shown a reluctance to spend over the odds on players this summer and so far, they have only signed Daniel James from Swansea City in a £15m deal.

Crystal Palace’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been another player tipped to head to Old Trafford but so far, discussions are ongoing with United willing to offer around £40m compared to the Eagles’ £60m valuation.
