Manchester United confident of completing £25m deal for 21-year-old midfielder

Manchester United are reportedly confident of wrapping up the signature of Sean Longstaff from Newcastle United, though they have yet to make a formal approach.

The Red Devils were hugely impressed with the midfielder’s Premier League showing during the backend of the previous season and there have already been various reports suggesting that they could swoop for his services.

According to Evening Standard, United are confident that they can lure the young midfielder from the ranks of Newcastle United but they are prepared to wait to make an official offer.

The 21-year-old has previously stated that he is living the dream of playing for the Magpies but United seem optimistic that the midfielder will be ultimately lured with the chance to move to Old Trafford.

The same report suggests that United could get him for a relatively cheap transfer fee of around £25m and they have a clear route with no evident competition from any Premier League rival.

Longstaff made his Premier League debut at the beginning of the year. He contributed one goal in nine appearances before sustaining a season-ending knee injury.
