A section of the Manchester United supporters have urged the club to secure the signature of goalkeeper Jan Oblak from Atletico Madrid amid the uncertainty over the future of David de Gea.
De Gea has just a year left on his current contract with the club and this has spread speculation that he could be sold this summer, considering the risk of losing him on a Bosman in 12 months’ time.
Amidst this, a number of shot-stoppers have been linked with the Red Devils and Oblak has been the most recent one amid claims that he is unsettled at Atletico.
The Slovenian is said to be unimpressed with Atletico’s plans for the forthcoming season and reports suggest that he would prefer a move to United for whom he has been a boyhood fan.
Here are some of the reactions in regards to the same….
Oblak currently has a £107m release clause on his contract and judging by how Atletico do their business, they are unlikely to come down from their asking price for the shot-stopper.
United could recoup as much as £60m from the potential sale of De Gea this summer and it remains to be seen whether they are prepared to spend on top of the sum received on Oblak.
Oblak had another top season on the individual scale at Atletico and he managed to keep 20 clean sheets through the La Liga campaign while conceding a league minimum of 29 goals.
