Transfer update: Chelsea manager does not want ‘unhappy’ Cesc Fabregas at the club

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has revealed that he would not block the impending departure of Cesc Fabregas from the Bridge with the midfielder ‘unhappy’ with the proceedings at the west London club.

The Spain international has barely featured for the Blues in the Premier League during the ongoing campaign and he now appears set to leave the club with his contract expiring in six months’ time.

Speaking ahead of the Tottenham Hotspur game, Sarri confirmed that the midfielder won’t be included in the matchday squad, given the 31-year-old is clearly unsettled at the west London side.

He added that the Blues had only offered Fabregas with a one-year extension, given he is above the age of 30 and this has supposedly urged him to pursue a fresh challenge elsewhere.

Meanwhile, Sarri did not reveal why the midfielder had been in Monte Carlo on Monday but various reports indicate that Monaco are set to sign him this month with a two-year offer already on the table.
