Chelsea ready to beat Manchester United to £100m-rated La Liga star?

Chelsea have reportedly been linked with a shock attempt to sign former Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho from Spanish giants Barcelona. The Brazil international only joined the Blaugrana from the Reds during the 2018 winter transfer window but he has struggled to settle with the inability to claim a regular starting role.

According to The Express, the midfielder could make the surprise departure from the Spanish champions in the next six months with the Catalan giants looking at the prospect of reuniting with Neymar, who is currently in the ranks of Paris Saint-Germain.

It is added that both Chelsea and United are interested in the former Premier League star, although the former appear to be leading the race after getting to know of the Blaugrana’s £100m price tag which they have not baulked at.

Coutinho is no doubt a proven campaigner when it comes to the Premier League but it would come as a surprise, if he harbours the ambition of leaving Barcelona after just a short period. Moreover, the Blues don’t necessary make big-money deals without recouping funds and any deal for Coutinho could trigger doubts regarding Eden Hazard’s future.

Hazard is scheduled to enter the final year of his Chelsea contract during the summer and the Blues’ failure to agree upon an extension may witness the Belgian part ways. The attacker has been regularly linked with a move to Real Madrid with suggestions that Los Blancos could be willing to pay as much as £100m for the former Lille graduate.

  1. Sarri shlould return Kante and Eden Hazard to their position and get jorginho warming the bench for loftus or Barkley to be given play time, Williams and Pedro deserves to come from d bench for odoi to get game time. Chelsea has what it takes to carry the champions league even. All the while he should have deployed loftus cheek to a striking role instead of hazard.
