4-3-3: How Chelsea will lineup with their expected second winter signing

Chelsea are currently on the cusp of announcing their second winter signing with Gonzalo Higuain scheduled to join them from Juventus on a temporary basis. With this in mind, we look into how they could shape up with the Argentine striker in the starting mix.

Formation: 4-3-3

Predicted Lineup:

Maurizio Sarri has barely encouraged changes in the backline through the league campaign and the same should remain the case for the forthcoming months.

Kepa Arrizabalaga should feature between the sticks with Cesar Azpilicueta, Antonio Rudiger, David Luiz and Marcos Alonso making up the four-man backline ahead of him.

Likewise, Sarri has not tinkered with the midfield options but we are anticipating one change with Ross Barkley entering the mix ahead of Mateo Kovacic, who has disappointed of late.

Sarri’s favourite Jorginho should slot into the holding midfield role as usual with former Evertonian Barkley partnering N’Golo Kante in the centre of the park.

Further forward, at least one change should be witnessed with the impending arrival of Higuain. Eden Hazard and Willian are likely candidates to feature on the left and right side of the attack with Pedro dropping to the bench, thus allowing Higuain to lead the line.

Chelsea (4-3-3): Kepa Arrizabalaga, Cesar Azpilicueta, Antonio Rudiger, David Luiz, Marcos Alonso, Jorginho, N’Golo Kante, Ross Barkley, Willian, Eden Hazard, Gonzalo Higuain
