Chelsea set to confirm second winter transfer with 16-goal striker due to a medical

Chelsea are reportedly set to confirm their second transfer of the winter transfer window with Tammy Abraham seemingly close to joining Wolverhampton Wanderers this month.

The England international has been in sublime form for Aston Villa on loan this term and he has already contributed 16 goals which sees him topping the Championship scoring charts.

Amidst this, there have been a number of Premier League clubs seeking to prise him away from the Blues but reports indicate that the Wolverhampton Wanderers have jumped ahead of the many suitors.

It is added that west Midlands outfit have agreed to pay an £18m fee to secure a permanent move for the marksman, who should now be recalled from the temporary stint with their cross-town rivals.

Abraham had a difficult top-flight campaign with Swansea City on loan last season where he managed just five goals but the upturn in form this campaign appears to have triggered Wolves’ interest.

Nonetheless, he may not directly get into the starting lineup for the centre-forward role, given Raul Jimenez has managed to fare decently for the Wolves with six goals and four assists in the first half of the season.

Meanwhile, the move should unquestionably provide a massive blow for the promotion hopes of Aston Villa with the club having been largely dependent on Abraham to keep them in the playoff hunt.
