Manchester United are deemed to be on the cusp of signing Matthijs de Ligt from Ajax after offering a tempting contract package to the Netherlands international.
The Dutch footballer has been touted to join Barcelona in the past few weeks but it appears that the Blaugrana are yet to find an agreement with the player in terms of the contract package.
Amidst this, United are reported to have jumped ahead in the race to sign the Ajax captain and RAC1 claims they are close to wrapping up the services of the central defender.
De Ligt has reportedly been offered with a £12.3m annual contract by United and that appears a tempting prospect, considering the Blaugrana have been reluctant to pay over the odds to acquire his signature.
United would still have to cough up a hefty chunk of money in terms of the transfer fees with Ajax set to demand around £62m to part ways with their inspirational captain.
