Arsenal in talks to sign €50m attacker, Mikel Arteta keen to land him

Arsenal have re-opened negotiations with Real Madrid over a permanent deal for Martin Odegaard, a report from 90min claims.

The Gunners are eyeing a creative midfielder this summer, and Odegaard is the main priority despite the continuous links with Leicester City’s James Maddison.

It is now reported that the Gunners have re-opened talks with Los Blancos for the 22-year-old, having been in sporadic contact throughout the summer.

Odegaard is currently doubtful over his future under manager Carlo Ancelotti. He does not feel important and could push for a move elsewhere this month.

Los Blancos don’t have any plans to keep an unhappy player. The Gunners are aiming to negotiate a suitable deal to bring him back to the Emirates.

The Norwegian spent the back end of last season on loan with the club, registering two goals and two assists from 20 appearances in all competitions.

The transfer valuation has not been mentioned, but it was recently reported that Los Blancos will demand at least €50m to sanction Odegaard’s exit.

Maddison has also been linked with the Gunners in recent weeks, but the England international only appears the alternative if they fail to land Odegaard.

Mikel Arteta has the signing of Odegaard as top priority before this month’s transfer deadline.

  1. Arteta and are just very obsessed with Martin Odegaard. He is not the type player that Arsenal needs at the moment. Why is Madrid open to him leaving?
