Kante and Ziyech start, Predicted Chelsea line up (3-4-2-1) vs Villarreal

Chelsea tackle Villarreal in the UEFA Super Cup clash on Wednesday night.

The Champions League holders are favourites, but they need to be wary of Unai Emery’s side, who stunned Manchester United in the Europa League final.

They are playing in their fifth Super Cup encounter. The competition has not been friendly to them. They have won just one of the previous four instances contested.

Formation: 3-4-2-1

Predicted Line-up:

Edouard Mendy will continue in goal, having become the first-choice ahead of Kepa Arrizabalaga.

There could be a solitary change in the defence. Trevor Chalobah could make way for skipper Cesar Azpilicueta.

Kurt Zouma and Antonio Rudiger are likely to partner the Spain international.

Reece James and Ben Chilwell just returned to training this month after their Euro 2020 exploits.

Callum Hudson-Odoi and Marcos Alonso should continue in the wing-back roles.

Similarly, we fancy Mateo Kovacic and N’Golo Kante to feature in the centre of the park.

Jorginho has returned to training after his heroics for Italy at the European Championships.

However, he may not be fully match fit, and could be restricted to a bench role.

No changes are likely in the attack from The Mind Series played recently.

Timo Werner for now remains the undisputed striker for the Blues.

Hakim Ziyech, who has flourished in pre-season, should partner Kai Havertz in the attacking midfield.

Werner has a big game ahead, and needs to prove his worth by finding the back of the net.

Else, he could lose his starting spot altogether with Romelu Lukaku’s arrival.
