Manchester United are set to announce their third summer signing with Harry Maguire reportedly on the cusp of sealing his move from fellow Premier League side Leicester City.
The Red Devils have been in regular talks with the Foxes since failing with a £70m bid last month and it appears that they have finally reached an agreement over the player’s transfer.
According to The Telegraph, a package worth £85m has been settled between the sides and the move is likely to happen in the coming hours with the defender already arriving for a medical at the Carrington training base.
Maguire’s expected transfer to Old Trafford will make him the most-expensive defender purchase surpassing the record held by Virgil van Dijk’s £75m move to Liverpool from Southampton last year.
The 26-year-old may not be the only arrival before the transfer window closes next month, considering the club are working on deals for the likes of Paulo Dybala and Bruno Fernandes.
Fernandes has been on the club’s radar since the beginning of the transfer window but a deal has been delayed with the Red Devils reluctant to match the £64m valuation of Sporting.
On the other hand, Dybala has yet to give the green light to make the move to Old Trafford in a straight-swap involving Lukaku, but United remain hopeful of convincing the Argentine over the transfer.
United have already acquired the signatures of Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Daniel James this summer. The club are scheduled to face AC Milan at the Principality Stadium in their final pre-season friendly on Saturday.
