Chelsea set to make second summer signing, personal terms agreed

Chelsea are set to make their summer signing after agreeing a club-record deal to sign Romelu Lukaku from Serie A giants Inter Milan, David Ornstein reports.

The Belgian has been the Blues’ prime transfer target, and they have now finalised a package worth 115 million euros to secure his return to Stamford Bridge.

The 28-year-old was previously deemed to have agreed personal terms. He is expected to sign a five-year contract of 12-13 million euros per annum with the Blues.

Lukaku has developed into a world-class striker during his time at Inter. He bagged 30 goals and 10 assists from just 44 appearances across all competitions last term.

Initially, he was determined to stay with the San Siro giants, but his stance changed after he was made aware that the Blues would like to re-sign him this summer.

After an extended round of negotiations, a deal has been finalised. Lukaku believes he has unfinished business at the west London giants, and is keen to prove himself.

The Belgian previously spent three seasons at Chelsea between 2011 and 2014. He made just 15 appearances, having spent time on loan with West Brom and Everton.

His arrival should boost the club’s prospects of competing for the league title. Lukaku has found success playing in a front two at Inter. He could line up alongside Timo Werner.

Lukaku will become the club’s second summer signing after Marcus Bettinelli’s arrival on a free transfer.
