A section of Chelsea fans have lauded the effort of Olivier Giroud during their 3-1 win over Manchester United in the FA Cup semi-final on Sunday.
The Blues had gone into the game on the back of three successive defeats to United, but they made amends with a solid display this time around.
Giroud opened the scoring in the contest right before the half-time whistle by beating David de Gea at the near post from a Cesar Azpilicueta cross.
The goal was his fourth for the Blues from as many starts and that has definitely delighted many of the supporters on Twitter.
Giroud started the season as the back-up striker behind Tammy Abraham and Michy Batshuayi and his lack of game time saw him push for an exit in January.
However, that did not happen due to the club’s inability to find a replacement and that has proved a blessing a disguise as he has become their leading marksman.
The France international will have a key role in the final two Premier League games against Liverpool and Wolverhampton Wanderers as the club seek to cement a Champions League group stage spot for next season.
