Nicolas Pepe injured, Arsenal without seven first-team stars for Standard Liege clash

Arsenal are expected to be without as many as seven first-team stars for their Europa League meeting against Standard Liege on Thursday night.

The Gunners have missed the services of Rob Holding (knee) and Dani Ceballos (hamstring) since the international break but the duo have been joined by four other players on the sidelines.

Hector Bellerin (tight hamstring) and Kieran Tierney (dislocated shoulder) picked up injuries at the London Stadium which will definitely see them out of action but the Gunners have added a couple of surprise names to the unavailable list.

Nicolas Pepe managed to overcome a minor knee problem due to Aaron Cresswell’s challenge to play the entire derby against West Ham and he has supposedly suffered a knee bruising which will be assessed ahead of the Manchester City clash.

Elsewhere, Granit Xhaka will unfortunately play no part in the next two games in all competitions. The Swiss was substituted after he was hit with the ball on the head and the Gunners have confirmed that he won’t feature for the next week due to the concussion protocols.

Apart from the six above-mentioned players, Shkodran Mustafi is also unavailable due to a one-match suspension which has been triggered after picking up three yellow cards in the Europa League group stage.
