Frank Lampard confirms double injury blow for Chelsea FC ahead of Champions League clash vs Lille

Chelsea FC manager Frank Lampard has revealed that the club will be without two of their first-team players ahead of the Champions League clash against Lille on Tuesday night.

Both Fikayo Tomori and Olivier Giroud were absent in training on Monday and speaking in a press conference, Lampard has confirmed that the duo won’t feature.

While Lampard did not disclose the injury sustained by Giroud, he happened to reveal that Tomori has a minor hip strain which should keep him out of the important Champions League clash.

“He’s got a tiny strain around his hip area, and it’s been bothering him for a little bit, so he’s taken out of it for a few days,” he was quoted as saying by the club’s official website.

Tomori has been a crucial contributor at the back for the Blues and his absence is certainly a blow, considering Lampard may have rested him at Everton with the view to the forthcoming clash.

Still, the Blues have been boosted by the injury comeback of Antonio Rudiger after his pelvic concern and he should displace one of Kurt Zouma or Andreas Christensen from the starting lineup.
