A section of Chelsea FC fans have heaped praise on midfielder Mateo Kovacic after he scored his maiden goal for the club against Valencia in the Champions League.
The Blues played out a 2-2 draw against Los Che in the recent European meeting and Kovacic came up with the equaliser to make it 1-1 after precise and delightful strike which beat goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen.
Kovacic continued to remain a regular presence in the attacking scheme of things and he nearly bagged his brace, barring a strong save from Cillessen at the near post.
Ultimately, the Blues were lucky to come up with a stalemate, considering the number of chances wasted by Valencia but some Chelsea FC fans were clearly impressed with Kovacic’s commanding performance.
Kovacic has barely scored for club and country during the course of his career and the goal for the Blues was his first in any professional game since early 2017.
As a result, there has been a sense of surprise with the Croatian’s goal but it was long coming, considering the form he has displayed since the beginning of the current campaign.
