Chelsea FC boss Frank Lampard confirms injury concern for important midfielder ahead of Norwich City clash

Chelsea FC head coach Frank Lampard has confirmed that the club could potentially be without the services of N’Golo Kante for the weekend’s league encounter against Norwich City on the road.

The France international has had his troubles with a knee problem which saw him miss most of the pre-season campaign and it now appears that he is struggling with an ankle sprain.

In a press conference quoted by the Blues’ website, Lampard confirmed that Kante is indeed an injury doubt for the clash and only a late fitness test may determine whether he can make the matchday squad.

“N’Golo Kante has got an injury he has carried all week. We are going to assess that over the next 24 hours to see if he’s fit. It’s an ankle sprain,” he was quoted as saying by Chelsea’s official website.

Meanwhile, Lampard acknowledged that Antonio Rudiger won’t be making his comeback with the Blues on Saturday and it may remain the case for next weekend as well.

Rudiger has returned to the mix following a long-term knee problem and he has already taken part in a few games for the development side for Chelsea in the Premier League 2.

However, neither the player nor the manager are keen on rushing the comeback to the first-team, considering the outcome of doing so last time around in April.
