Manchester United have reportedly been permitted to hold talks with midfielder Mario Lemina regarding a potential move away from Southampton this summer.
The Gabon international has been with the Saints for the past two years but he has not managed to cement a regular role from the starting lineup with form and fitness concerns.
Despite this, United are understood to have made contact with the Saints for the player and The Times claims that they have been given permission to discuss a move with the former Juventus man.
Lemina has largely featured at the heart of the midfield at St Mary’s, but he has shown in the past that he can feature on the right side of the defence while also being deployed on the wings.
Southampton had pursued the midfielder for an initial fee of around £18m from Juventus and it is claimed that they may command a similar sum to sanction his sale to the Red Devils.
Aside from United, long-term admirers Arsenal are also monitoring the proceedings, though their restricted budget may hamper their prospects of making a one-time payment.
