Chelsea FC players are keen on the recruitment of Frank Lampard as their next manager with Maurizio Sarri edging closer to joining Juventus this summer.
Sarri’s representatives have been in constant contact with the Blues and Bianconeri in the past few days and reports indicate that the Italian will be permitted to return to the Serie A after just one season in the Premier League.
Amidst this, the west London giants are said to be keeping their eye on a probable successor and The Sun claims that club legend Frank Lampard is one of those under consideration.
The same publication suggests that the majority of the Blues players are in preference of the 40-year-old, although the board consider his appointment as a potential risk.
Lampard stepped into his first-ever management season with Derby County last term and the stint was largely fruitful as the Rams reached the Championship playoff final and just missed out on promotion.
Still, the Blues legend does not possess any managerial experience when it comes to the English top-flight and that appears to have got the hierarchy thinking whether it would be a wise choice to offer him the hot seat.
