TalkSPORT journalist Andy Goldstein has said that Arsenal have accepted that every player in their first-team squad has an asking price for the summer transfer window.
Aubameyang, 30, had a impressive campaign with the Gunners last term where he racked 31 goals in all competitions but that was not sufficient in aiding the club’s quest for Champions League football.
Amidst this, there has been the occasional speculation regarding the future of their leading marksman and Goldstein has claimed that the striker is on the radar of Manchester United.
He added that United may do another Van Persie to lure the marksman to Old Trafford, considering the Gunners could be tempted by an opening offer of around £70m.
“I’ve got someone on the inside, who every so often would tell me transfer gossip. I would say he’s got a quite high hit ratio… 75 to 25 per cent. He has told me United are interested in Aubameyang,” he is quoted by The Express.
“He’s got two years left on his deal, is 30-years-old… he’s the finished article. United did something similar with [Robin] van Persie, and Romelu Lukaku is not doing it for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. I think it’s crazy money for a 30-year-old… £70million first offer.”
Arsenal are working on a limited £45m budget for the summer and reports have suggested that manager Unai Emery may have to sell a few players in the current squad to boost the transfer kitty.
Nonetheless, Aubameyang would be the last player the Gunners would consider parting ways with, and it may come as a huge surprise, should he make the switch to a direct Premier League rival.
The north London club are yet to make a signing during the ongoing transfer window but they are in discussions to pursue the likes of Kieran Tierney, William Saliba and Alexis Claude-Maurice.
If this is true, £70m for a 30 yo. Are United going mad. Get lost.
He,s just won the golden boot!
