Argentine midfielder Exequiel Palacios has confirmed that Arsenal are interested in securing his signature during this summer’s transfer window.
The 20-year-old has made good progress since graduating through the youth ranks at River Plate and this has already earned him recognition with his national side.
In a report covered by The Mirror, Palacios has acknowledged that Arsenal and Real Madrid are keen on pursuing him and he is proud to be linked with both teams.
“I’m proud clubs like Real Madrid and Arsenal are interested in me.” he said.
Palacios currently has a £18m release clause on his current contract but the Gunners have yet to show any intention of activating the same as they consider their options.
Of late, Granit Xhaka has been touted to make a surprise move to Inter Milan and his potential departure should provide the club with the funds needed to pursue Palacios.
Arsenal are currently said to be working on a pre-sales budget of just £40m after they failed to qualify for the Champions League for the third-straight campaign.
