Chelsea ready bumper £50m deal to complete signing of South American striker, not Higuain

Chelsea are reportedly planning an ambitious attempt to lure Edinson Cavani from the clutches of Paris Saint-Germain this month. The Blues have struggled in the striking department during the first half of the current campaign with the duo of Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud managing just six goals in the top-flight.

Owing to this, the west London side are deemed to have stepped up the pursuit of a new marksman and according to The Express, they are understood to have set their sights on signing Cavani from the reigning French champions.

It is added that the Capital outfit are prepared to make a bumper bid of £50m for the former Napoli man, although it remains to be seen whether Les Parisiens would fancy parting ways with the marksman at the midway stage of the season.

Cavani presently has just 18 months remaining on his existing deal with Les Parisiens and based on this, it appears a good choice for the Ligue 1 holders to consider his sale with him having already entered the latter stages of his professional career.

However, the French giants are said to harbour the ambitions of winning the Champions League this term and that may alone restrict them from sanctioning the striker’s sale this month, though his transfer value may reduce during the summer.
