Arsenal are being fancied to make an approach for Chelsea captain Gary Cahill amid the recent injury crisis which has hampered the heart of their defence.
The Gunners are already without the services of Rob Holding for the rest of the season following his knee surgery while Unai Emery has had to deal with fitness concerns for Laurent Koscielny, Shkodran Mustafi and Nacho Monreal of late.
As such, the Spanish tactician has recently been left with just one senior centre-back in the form of Sokratis and this appears to have increased the club’s urgency to reinforce the central defensive department.
According to reports, Cahill has been highlighted as one of the prime targets for the Gunners and they are hoping to take advantage of his current situation at the Bridge.
The former England international has failed to start a single league game for the Blues this term and that combined with his contract expiring in six months’ has apparently caught the Gunners eye.
Chelsea have shown no ambition whatsoever to extend the contract of their skipper and it is revealed that they could accept a fee of around £10m for his services, provided they can find a younger replacement.
I want us to sign someone this Jan. But definitely not Garry Cahill we can do better
