Team News: Arsenal confirm injury return of 24-year-old star for Nottingham Forest clash

Arsenal have confirmed that defender Rob Holding could play his first game of the season when Nottingham Forest make the north London trip for the League Cup third round tie.

Holding has not participated for the Gunners since the serious knee injury picked up against Manchester United in December last year but he now seems on the cusp of making his comeback

Ahead of the Forest encounter, the Gunners provided an update on the team where it has been confirmed that Holding is ‘available for selection‘ for the Cup tie.

Shkodran Mustafi and David Luiz were the central defensive pairing during the recent Europa League opener and Holding’s return should see the latter rested.

Elsewhere, the likes of Calum Chambers, Lucas Torreira and Joe Willock should start after their impressive cameo roles in the 3-2 comeback win over Aston Villa on Sunday.

Alongside them, Mesut Ozil should be fancied to make the starting XI after failing to earn a single minute of playing time against both Eintracht Frankfurt and Aston Villa.
