Chelsea could face a potential blow in appointing Zidedine Zidane as their next manager, should Maurizio Sarri be dismissed at the end of the season.
Zidane has been widely earmarked as the leading candidate to replace Sarri at the helm, should the Italian fail to achieve the Blues’ objective of securing Champions League football for next season.
However, according to The Sun, their chances of signing Zidane could be ruined by FIFA, who are keen on the club serving the transfer ban from the summer itself.
Recently, FIFA imposed a two-window transfer embargo on the Blues after they broke rules pertaining the signing of minor players, but the club have since appealed the decision.
Based on this, there has been the prediction that the Blues could prolong their transfer ban beyond the summer, but FIFA seem keen on finding a resolution with the CAS at the earliest possibility.
In this case, Chelsea’s chances of approaching Zidane seem slim, given the Frenchman is said to want a significant transfer kitty of around £200m to spend on new signings in the summer.
For now, Sarri continues to hold the confidence of the Blues board and the club are on course to qualify for the Champions League through the league with two points separating them from top four with a game in hand.
