Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson expects Chelsea to sanction the departure of Alvaro Morata, now that they have completed the signing of Gonzalo Higuain from Juventus.
Higuain joined the Blues on a temporary basis from the Bianconeri yesterday and the Argentine could make his debut against Sheffield Wednesday in the FA Cup fourth round this weekend.
Amidst this, there has been plenty of speculation concerning the future of Morata at the Bridge and Merson believes the Spaniard should head through the exit door.
In a report covered by Sky Sports, the former Arsenal man has indicated that Morata’s initial loan move to Atletico Madrid should materialise with the Blues having finally landed the signature of Higuain.
Morata, who has twice won the Champions League, has already been deemed to have finalised personal terms with Atleti and the move is expected to be made official before the weekend’s La Liga action.
