Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri is reportedly eyeing a reinforcement in the right-back position this month after being unimpressed with the showing of vice-captain Cesar Azpilicueta.
The Italian tactician accused the squad to lack motivation during the recent derby defeat at Arsenal and it now appears that he has instructed the board to pursue a right-sided defender.
According to The Mirror, Sarri is keen on a reunion with another of his former players in Elseid Hysaj, who is currently plying his trade with Napoli.
Hysaj has already worked with Sarri at both Empoli and Napoli and reports indicate that the Blues could make a loan approach for the defender this month, though Napoli are holding out for a permanent deal.
The Albanian, who is currently valued at £45m, was initially tipped to join the Blues by his representative during the summer but a move did not materialise with the club focusing on other positions.
Meanwhile, the potential interest in Hysaj appears to have been triggered by the fact that both Victor Moses and Davide Zappacosta could head through the exit door before the end of the month.
Moses is likely to pursue a short-term loan away from the Bridge while Zappacosta could leave on a permanent basis with Lazio keen on acquiring his signature.
