Former Chelsea FC star Frank Sinclair believes the Blues currently have a central defender who has better qualities than Manchester United’s Harry Maguire on the playing field.
Blues graduate Fikayo Tomori made his breakthrough under Frank Lampard in late August and he has since been able to command a regular starting role at the heart of the defence.
In the past few months, Lampard has clearly stated that Tomori could remain a regular even after the injury comeback of Antonio Rudiger and Sinclair has now heaped praise on the centre-back.
In a report covered by Football.London, the former Blues star hailed the young graduate and stated that the 21-year-old has played a huge part in the club’s impressive form through the league campaign.
“He has been a massive part of how well Chelsea have been defensively in recent times. He has a lot of pace, he’s good on the ball and he’s great in one vs one situations,” he told.
Tomori was recently handed with his maiden England start and Sinclair believes the centre-back can become a mainstay in the Three Lions setup, given he is already a better player than most of his compatriots including Maguire.
“He is a player who has been talked about for a long time and it’s no surprise that he’s been talked about for England. I think he should be in the England squad and playing regularly. I think Tomori is a better player than all of them and that includes Harry Maguire,” he added.
