Martial and James start, Strongest Predicted Man United lineup (4-2-3-1) vs Sheffield United

Manchester United can register a second-straight league victory on the bounce when they face Sheffield United away from home on Saturday evening.

The Red Devils are presently nine points behind the top four places and they face a potential must-win game at Bramall Lane or else they could fall further adrift of the Champions League spots.

Sheffield won’t prove an easy opposition with their excellent defensive record this term (nine goals conceded from 12 games) but United have in-form players such as Rashford and Martial, who can make the difference.

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Predicted Lineup:

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has preferred to settle with a stable backline and the same should be the case against the Blades. David de Gea is expected to start in goal. Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire and Ashley Young, who has served his one-match suspension, should make up the defence.

In the midfield, Solskjaer has a crisis on his hands with Scott McTominay and Paul Pogba injured while Nemanja Matic is definitely not match fit after returning to training after nearly seven weeks. Fred is certain to take up one of the midfield spots and he could be accompanied by Andreas Pereira. The Brazilian has generally played in the number 10 role but he may have to drop into a deeper position to compensate for the injuries.

In the attack, Marcus Rashford and Daniel James are certain to start on the flanks and the same remains the case for Anthony Martial upfront. The only change may come in the number 10 position where Juan Mata could get the nod ahead of Jesse Lingard. Mata impressed in the position with some quick link-up play against Partizan and he deserves to feature ahead of Lingard, who has barely contributed in an attacking point of view this year.

Predicted Man United lineup: De Gea, Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Young, Fred, Pereira, James, Mata, Rashford and Martial.
