Manchester United are reportedly on the cusp of signing Mario Mandzukic from Juventus and he could start training with the Red Devils’ first-team as early as December.
The Croatian was the prime target to replace Romelu Lukaku during the summer but the Red Devils could not convince the Bianconeri into a deal before the deadline approached.
This has, however, not ceased the speculation of Mandzukic heading to the Red Devils and La Stampa via Metro claims that the striker has already started ‘packing his bags’ for the Old Trafford move.
Meanwhile, a separate reports from Tuttosport claims that the marksman could be permitted to join the Red Devils in training by next month, should they finalise an informal agreement with the Serie A holders.
The 33-year-old is likely to cost between £10m and £13m and United are more than willing to pay the price ahead of clubs such as AC Milan, who have been put off by the valuation.
The marksman is unlikely to command a starting spot upfront ahead of Anthony Martial or Marcus Rashford but he should prove valuable option off the bench with his effective hold-up play and aerial prowess.
Mandzukic could be offered an 18-month contract with the club with the option for another year, should he prove his worth. The striker has completely fallen out-of-favour under Maurizio Sarri this term and has failed to make a single appearance to date.
