‘I love him at this football club’, Frank Lampard wants Chelsea FC to hand new contract to in-form attacker

Chelsea FC manager Frank Lampard has urged the club’s hierarchy to hand Willian with a new contract following his impressive form during the current campaign.

The Brazil international was initially a substitute following his recovery from a hamstring problem but Lampard did not think twice once the winger returned to full fitness.

Willian has been ever-present for the Blues since the beginning of September and he has come up with a number of top displays including his superb flick assist for Tammy Abraham’s goal over the weekend.

As a result, he has already amassed three goals and three assists from the right side of the attack and Lampard is quite clear that the 31-year-old remains an important player under his management.

“I can’t get involved in the money, that’s up to the club, but I think everyone sees from what I’m saying, and I’m relying on him and picking him and he’s producing, I love him at this football club,” he told.

The former Shakhtar Donetsk man has eight months remaining on his current contract but talks are underway with the hierarchy regarding an extension.

There are suggestions that the Blues are only willing to offer him with a year’s contract but Willian seems intent on renewing his deal for another two years with the promise of a pay rise.
