Chelsea make final transfer decision on Gonzalo Higuain

Chelsea have reportedly decided against pursuing a mid-season deal for Gonzalo Higuain amid the complexity involved in luring the Argentine striker to the Bridge.

The 31-year-old had been widely fancied to join the Blues prior to the transfer window with reports indicating that the striker is unsettled with the Rossoneri.

However, both the striker and Juventus have since indicated that is not the case and Goal.com claims that the Blues are unlikely to make an approach this winter.

At present, Higuain is on a two-year loan deal with AC Milan and the Blues are apparently reluctant to discuss terms with two separate clubs in order to lure the marksman to the Premier League.

Instead, they are prepared to look elsewhere for probable reinforcements with Bournemouth’s Callum Wilson and West Ham United’s Marko Arnautovic recently propping up their radar.

Chelsea have struggled in the striking department during the ongoing campaign with the front duo of Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud managing just a combined six goals in the top-flight.

Due to this, there has been a general dependency on Hazard to produce the goods but he has still not managed to standout in every game which has partly contributed to the Blues’ fourth position in the standings.
