Arsenal’s head of football Raul Sanllehi has said that Mesut Ozil continues to remain a key player for the club and he is hopeful that the German will see more first-team action after the international break.
The 30-year-old has made just two appearances across all competitions for the Gunners this term and he could not even make the matchday squad in the three games prior to the break.
Speaking on Arsenal Fan Forum, Sanllehi said that the club have no concerns with Ozil and he is hopeful that the German sees more gametime in the forthcoming weeks.
He added that the midfielder’s quality can’t be doubted but he needs to contribute on a daily basis in training to meet the expectations of manager Unai Emery.
“There is nothing against Mesut on the contrary and I hope we get to see him much more in the next games because his qualities are without question, but he needs to contribute 24/7 and that’s what Unai expects from him,” he told.
Ozil’s future has been a regular discussion point of late and he has recently been linked with a potential move to Fenerbahce with the transfer window reopens.
The Turkish outfit are understood to be eyeing a temporary deal and reports have emerged that the Gunners could be prepared to pay part of the attacker’s £350,000-a-week wages.
