Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed a suitable return date for Marcus Rashford ahead of the forthcoming Premier League clash against Arsenal at Old Trafford.
The England international sustained a groin problem during the 2-0 league defeat at West Ham United over the weekend and he has since missed the League Cup third round tie against Rochdale, where the Red Devils only won through a penalty shoot-out.
Speaking to MUTV, Solskjaer revealed that Rashford has not suffered a serious injury but hinted that he may not return for the Gunners clash. However, the Norwegian tactician was optimistic that the forward would be available at some point before the international break.
“Marcus, no he’s recovering,” Ole told MUTV. “He’s not very, very bad. We hope to see him before the international break.”
In the absence of Rashford, Mason Greenwood was tasked to lead the line against Rochdale and he made his mark with his second goal from as many appearances for the Mancunian giants.
There has been no update on Anthony Martial’s return from a thigh problem and it appears that the 17-year-old could start upfront against the Gunners on Monday night.
Meanwhile, United have received some boost on the injury front with midfielder Paul Pogba playing through the entire 90 minutes of the recent Cup tie.
The Frenchman was initially touted to feature in a cameo role but he was surprisingly handed with the entire game against Rochdale, who put up a strong showing at Old Trafford last night.
