Chelsea FC are reportedly planning to negotiate a new contract with defender Emerson Palmieri following his promising start to the current season under manager Frank Lampard.
In the previous one-and-a-half seasons, Emerson has been regarded as the back-up option to Marcos Alonso on the left side of the defence but that has become vice-versa with Lampard at the helm.
Emerson has been ever-present for the Blues in the opening five games across all competitions this term and Football Italia claims that the club are now looking forward to extending the Italian’s stay beyond June 2022.
The same publication claims that the defender’s wages are likely to be hiked from £67,000-a-week to £86,000-a-week while the salary could be bettered with performance-related bonuses included.
Emerson has been by far the best-performing defender for Chelsea FC this term and his performances have also been recognised at the international level where he was handed with a starting spot against Armenia.
The former AS Roma star made the chance count with an assist in a 3-1 triumph and he should feature in the forthcoming Euro 2020 qualifier clash against Finland before returning for club duty.
