BBC football expert Mark Lawrenson has stated his prediction for Saturday’s Premier League game between Chelsea and Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues recently celebrated UEFA Super Cup glory, but the game went right to a penalty shoot-out.
Despite this, Lawrenson believes the Blues will come on top with some competitive action under their belt.
Romelu Lukaku is still under quarantine, but Lawrenson feels there is enough quality to make the difference.
He told BBC Sport: “I am going with Chelsea here, mind you (2-0 win predicted). They have already had a competitive game this week.”
“The UEFA Super Cup final, which will help them a lot and they have enough up front to win this even without Romelu Lukaku, who appears to be incoming.”
The Blues have a fantastic record against Palace, winning the last seven Premier League meetings.
They will be favourites to beat them once again despite the vast changes in personnel at the Eagles.
The south London club have brought in several young players under new manager Patrick Vieira.
Palace still need to adapt, and Vieira may require some time to instill his ideas on the playing field.
Chelsea are regarded by many as the closest challengers to Manchester City for the league title.
